ana_moura_628_x_250To all of you who love Portuguese music. The famous singer of fado, Ana Moura, will be giving a concert on Sunday 12 october 2014 at 7pm at the Hulencourt Golf Club.

The most “pop singer” of fado will be giving a concert as part of her tour, Desfado. “Fado ” expresses her love for Portugal, while “des” stands for the change of structure she wants to give to it.

A great voice of fado

Born in Santarém in Portugal, she started her career as a rock singer, but she soon felt strongly attracted by Fado and it’s subtle code to express passion. Her subtle code to express passion is both strong and complex.

In just a few years, she collaborated with immense stars of international rock music such as: The Rolling Stones and Prince.

Ana Moura, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful voices of fado, will be giving a concert on October 12th as part of the Hulencourt Art Project.

Conchita Wurst

53059_field_home_slideshow_big_628x250On Wednesday October 8th, Conchita Wurtz will be on stage in front of the European Parliament.That is anyway what Ukrike Lunacek, the Austrian vice-president of the European Parliament, has announced on her Facebook page today.

All the aficionados of the Thursday Plux will most probably be on site on Wednesday (1 to 2 pm) to listen to the bearded transgender winner of this year’s Eurovision.

This concert is organised by members of Parliament from 5 different parliamentary groups. Its aim is to support the adoption in February of the report against homophobia and sexual discriminations.

Brussels Chamber Music Festival

The Brussels Chamber Music Festival is back in Brussels with once more several internationally-renowned artists. This musical event will take place between the 3rd and the 5th of October 2014 at the Karreveld Castle in Brussels.

The artistic director of the Festival, Julien Beurms, is pleased to welcome musicians renowned for their musical sensibilities as well as their generous spirit during the Brussels Chamber Music Festival which will be held at the Karreveld on the first weekend of October.

These exceptional musicians have already seen the world with their instruments and will all be meeting up in Brussels for 6 unique concerts.

Together, they wille perform some of the most important works from the Romantic music.

‘Far East museum

Talking about China in Brussels without mentioning the ‘Far East museums would be crazy. Simply because these tree Asian monuments, located in Laeken are ones of the most beautiful projects of King Léopold II.

The ‘buildings architecture is ‘so terrific. The extraordinary Japanese Tour, Chinese pavilion and the Japanese Art museum give a, exotic touch to the Brussels landscape.

Besides the architectural interest, those museums keep pieces which make every China lover travel at the other side of the world. So, you might admire porcelain from China and Japan, as well as Japanese printings.

The Brussels Musée du Cinquantenaire has got, among its varied collections, a section dedicated to China. So, you might get to know the different Chinese arts: ceramics, jade, bronze, wool sculpture, mural painting, clothes, painting, calligraphy, furniture and decorative arts.

Brussels Fashion Days @ The EGG

On 19, 20 and 21 October 2012

The inaugural edition of Brussels Fashion Days will be held on 19, 20 and 21 October. Programmed in the wake of fashion weeks in autumn, the Brussels Fashion Days will feature a panorama of Belgian fashion on the 10,000 m² of The EGG, thereby becoming the largest fashion happening in Belgium.

Professionals, the press and the public will for the first time be afforded the opportunity to discover in Brussels certain collections presented only to the international press a few weeks before, in particular in Paris and Milan.
Four major shows, directed by Guillaume Joveneaux and featuring such names as Jean-Paul Knott, Natan, Elvis Pompilio, SandrinaFasoli, Marc-Philippe Coudeyre, and OMSK, will showcase the talent of our designers.
In an exhibition space dedicated to this purpose, more than 50 veteran designers and young talents will show their work, among whom Eric Beauduin, Emilie Beaumont, Romain Brau, Monsieur Bul, Marc Philippe Coudeyre, Fabienne Delvigne, SandrinaFasoli, Mademoiselle Jean, Jean-Paul Knott, Isabelle Lenfant, Natan, Niyona, Michael GuerisseO’Leary, OMSK, Elvis Pompilio, The Cookie Therapy, … and many others!
A major fashion photography exhibition will also be held, teeming with such names as Luc Praet, Serge Leblon or Michel Gronemberger but also young talents that have earned a sterling reputation and are in search of new horizons such as Charlotte Abramow, Maëlle André, Lisa Carletta, Guillaume Kayakan and Frédérique Sablon.
The public will be invited to a world often considered exclusive and inaccessible for a weekend.

Megavino: in vino veritas

From 19 to 22 October 2012

Megavino will soon open its doors for a new vintage. For its new edition, this giant wine cellar will display its barrels to the public.

Megavino is a place where people meet, taste and also purchase wine. Glass in hand, the visitor can stroll through the exhibition centre’s broad avenues and meet the 280 stand-holders, tasting (in moderation !) thousands of wines, from more than thirty different countries.
The event also looks into life as a wine-producer, with its concerns and passions. Wine competitions, workshops,  wine-making accessories, conferences, cookery demonstrations, how to marry food and wine also complete the vast menu on offer here!

Festival of Freedom

From the 18th to the 27th of October

The documentary section, an essential part of Festival des Libertés, offers about 30 films from around the world, including a number of award winners from other major festivals, many of which are being screened in Belgium for the first time.

They present an overview of the state of rights and freedoms throughout the world, as well as an homage to all those who resist and act to make their utopias real. Whenever possible, films are followed by a Q&A session with the filmmaker or other knowledgeable persons.

Mindscapes

As part of the Summer of Photography 2012, La Centrale électrique is presenting the exhibition “Landscapes of the mind – Mindscapes” or how to make the invisible visible? In several chapters, this exhibition provides a subjective and intuitive reading of the photographic depiction of the human being and the landscape. Photographs of mediums, scenes of voodoo, evanescent bodies, x-ray images, materialisations, subjective landscapes, etc. are all exhibited as stages in a journey through the mystery of representation and perception.
